Clearance and Vegetation Management

Many undeveloped sites, in addition to the presence of schedule 9 invasive vegetation have been left unmaintained or neglected. General clearance is often required to improve conveyance or facilitate development. Ebsford are able to provide a range of solutions to prepare or improve sites.

Full site clearance

When sites have been left unused, nature doesn’t take long to reclaim land. We are able to carry out full or selective vegetation removal. Allocating the most suitable methods to achieve your objectives we can employ the efficiency of tracked or tractor based mulchers, excavator mounted tree shears and whole tree chippers to swiftly removed trees and vegetation leaving you with a clear site. Mulched material is incorporated into the onsite soil and wherever possible the material produced from whole tree chipping is sold as biomass, reducing the cost of disposal and in some cases providing an income to reduce the overall cost of the project. Alternatively, on more sensitive sites our teams can be deployed using chainsaws and manually fed wood chippers where sites don’t facilitate the use of larger machinery.

Technical tree works

Utilising modern equipment we look to minimise the time a climber will spend in the tree, where possible we will use mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPS) to access trees and to work from. Reducing the time spent working from a rope and harness. Utilising technical rigging equipment means that anything below the tree is protected from falling debris as material is lowered to the ground.

Where required, we are able to utilise large cranes to remove sections of a tree and relocate them to a safe working area. This minimises time spent by operatives reducing material to handlable pieces for removal from difficult sites.

Our teams are also fully trained to operate around water and are able to work on trees adjacent to or that have fallen into the water. Reducing flood risk and improving water conveyance.

Habitat creation

Engaging Ebsford to provide habitat creation ensures you have a supplier with a proven track record in conservation contracting. Since 2011 Ebsford has been improving habitats for wildlife and people across the UK. Having proudly created Europe’s largest hibernaculum in 2018 Ebsford is able to design and install habitat mitigation to your chosen specification. Where possible we seek opportunities to utilise materials won on site to enhance projects and increase the value of the contract. Using brash from trees to form brushwood faggots as part of watercourse restoration or creating habitat piles far more interesting than the standard pile of waste wood are a small amount of the options we’re able to provide.

Channel clearance

Our teams are fully trained to work safely around water, we will sympathetically remove vegetation ensuring aquatic life is able to return to the watercourse. Our teams are also able to remove man made blockages safely and dispose of any debris removed from the channel. Having carried out channel maintenance for the Environment Agency, Local authorities and inland drainage boards we are able to ensure consistent conveyance of water.

SUDS and Attenuation pond management

Having been involved with the restoration of historic attenuation ponds and at the establishment of new attenuation ponds we are able to leave you with a pond benefiting form desired conveyance of water, flora consisting of native plants and increased biodiversity. The whole time keeping in mind the need for a low maintenance facility.

We like to incorporate native marginal aquatic plants along with low maintenance wild flower grasslands to create aesthetically pleasing yet practical facilities.
